Process of configuring and setting up Outlook.com account on iPhone is very simple. We will see how to configure your Outlook.com account on default iPhone Mail client and also on Sparrow mail client.
For adding a new account on iPhone’s default Mail software, go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calender > Add Account option.
Among different options choose account type as ‘Microsoft Hotmail’. In account details enter your outlook.com email address along with Password, under Description give any name to your this account.
Thats it … we are done here and now after Verifying your Outlook.com account, mail client will ask you to get your Mail,Contacts,Calender and Reminder to iPhone. Select as per need.
Outlook.com account uses the same configuration settings which are required for Hotmail account.
While adding account in Mail client you can also Choose Microsoft Exchange account type as Outlook.com supports active sync. For Outlook.com we need to set Exchange ActiveSync server name as – m.outlook.com
Lets move on to Sparrow which was recently purchased by Google and which is considered to be best email client available on iOS.
In Sparrow you need to go to Accounts list and select the Plus icon at the bottom right of the screen.
This will open up a screen to add a new email account, enter your email address and password and click on next.
Once you click on Save button, Sparrow will ask you to fill mail server related details. You need to make sure that you choose Server Type as Pop, because Outlook.com does not support IMAP currently.
For Pop server you need to enter pop3.live.com as host and smtp.live.com for Sending Server.
Provide your full email address (including @outlook.com) while giving your login id.
Click on Save and we are done, after verification this new account will be added to your Sparrow mail client.
